always enjoyed my time at Shattered Wings Studio. The atmosphere is
relaxed, yet creative and inspiring. The studio features state-of-the-art
recording equipment and an interesting selection of musical instruments
(guitars, amps, drums, effect pedals, etc.). Newly renovated and expanded,
Shattered Wings Studio is able to accommodate a wide-variety of recording
and rehearsal projects. Recording with
Matthew Thomas at Shattered Wings was a great experience. The pressure
of recording seemed to disappear once we entered the doors. SWS had
the knowledge and equipment that allowed us to get great professional
sound for a sweet price. We were able to concentrate on all of the little
things that made the final product totally what we wanted! Over the years
I have worked many times with Matt at Shattered Wings and I must say
that each and every experience has been very positive and productive.
Matt's personable and professional attitude; his knowledge and choice
of the best equipment out there; his understanding of acoustics and
the consequent choice of a great room; his ability to get you set up
with a great sound in no time flat; all go towards making the recording
process a great pleasure. What's more, his capabilities as a excellent
producer have fostered a better understanding of how to perform in a
recording situation for myself and others. If you're looking for professional

Though most times I prefer to do mixing myself, I will always consult with the studio if I need to tweak something, record additional tracks, or just need a good pair of ears to go over my mixes. It’s always good to get a second opinion and a great room to listen to.
The tracking techniques are excellent, so if you are looking for that “Huge Drum Kit”, “Fat Bass” or “Crisp Electric Guitar” sound or "clean acoustic instruments", the Engineer and the gear are all there to get it done. Many times I get back to my own mixing room and smile when I realize that my mixing will be that much easier because the recording was done right. In order to get a commercial sounding product you need the first steps to be done right and at Shattered Wings they will be. The service is excellent and the easy going atmosphere allows for a creative flow that can be very hard to obtain.
In addition, not
only does the studio have an arsenal of top gear and instruments but
it also provides you with contacts to some of the areas best session
musicians for your projects, and above all a repository of great ideas
if you ever hit a wall with respect to production or writers block.
With such resources at your disposal and the quality of the recording
that is achieved, there is no other place that I would recommend for
either a full project or smaller recording/production task. "Sometimes
I would get so lost in a song that I couldn't be objective about it
anymore. I'd get caught up in a harmony line, or even a single word,
and start to question everything. Matt was the creative and objective
voice that helped me to see the song as a whole. And though he was quick
to point out if I was off key or not giving my best, the focus remained
on the feeling of the song rather than the mechanics of it, and that
